The simple version

Some links on ProductMotive are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission from the seller — at no extra cost to you. We also have a footless policy that matters more: affiliate links never change our recommendations.

How it works

When we link to a retailer, manufacturer or service, we may participate in its affiliate programme. The retailer tracks the referral through the link and, if you make a qualifying purchase, pays us a small percentage. Your price is identical either way.

• We recommend products because we think they fit your requirements — never because of a commission.
• We don’t rank products or write comparisons “in exchange” for affiliate deals, and we don’t accept payment for placement.
• If a product doesn’t fit your requirements, we’ll say so even when we could earn from the link.

Why we do it

Affiliate income helps keep the site free and independent. It’s one of the least intrusive ways to cover hosting and the work that goes into keeping comparisons current.

A note on transparency

We attach a short disclosure sentence wherever we include links — you can see an example at the bottom of the recommendation preview on the homepage. If we ever change this policy, we’ll update the date above and tell you plainly.
